Beyond the Dome

Science fiction PA novel

Author – Marti Waltheim

Southern Africa 2250 AD

Life on earth has changed dramatically since The Great Extinction wiped out 80% of all living organisms a hundred years ago. Those fortunate enough to be in Level 3 and above lead a highly-organised life inside the dome, cocooned from the harsh realities of ‘out-life’. Levels 1 and 2 are less fortunate. They, and the small ‘out-life’ communities, must endure the vagaries of climate, fight off marauders and become self-sufficient. Rodney Hughes and his two friends, Shane P and clone Fritz 22, set off on a journey of discovery beyond the dome. They meet a primitive tribe, discover a verdant valley filled with wildlife and experience the hardships of the ‘out-life’.

Rodney discoveres his mission in life. He must return to his place of birth in the Sani Out-life community which he left twenty years ago. Shortly after his arrival, the community is attacked by a ruthless band of marauders. They are no match for Shane P, Fritz 22 and their Jet-bots and are deleted. Rodney must answer for their actions. A chain of events is set in motion that could change life in the whole region, but he must convince theGoverning Body. In the political battles that follow, the ‘Deadwood’ are defeated and the Progressives’ take control. A new life beckons.
