The Human Factor

We are the only anomaly in the known universe.

We march not to Nature’s drum, but to our own tune.

Every other species must follow the path decreed by its’ niche. Not us. We continue our expansion relentlessly. We adapt our habitat to suit our needs. We radically modify our environment in our quest for development.

The apex predator. Relentless in our quest for expansion, wealth and comfort. We are our own worst enemy. We know the saying ‘people who live in glass houses should not throw stones’ , yet we ignore it. Most humans don’t even know they live in a glass house. That is the problem.

Our planet and moon follow an established cycle within our solar system. Precise as clockwork, it is the basis on which our planet has become a rare gem. The only one of its kind known to man. Every other life form exists within the niche in which it has evolved. Each is part of an interdependent whole and must fulfil its purpose or the gaps will widen and all life will be threatened. Not us. Still we throw stones. We eliminate species for sport and pleasure, for space and food, without realising the consequences. We modify everything that does not suit our needs. We assume that the earth is our dominion, there for our needs and purposes. When the bill comes, will we be able to afford it? It won’t be paid by washing dishes. It will be paid for in human lives. The more the better as far as planet earth is concerned.
