The Real Threats to Humanity

Global warming and climate change are presented as the greatest threats to our existence in the future. I welcome them.

Yes, we will have to adapt and many will suffer. The good news is that I will probably be long dead by then.

What has happened to the debate on population growth? The need for more resources, food, power and increased pollution have been relegated to the past. There are very few who care. The poor have no time or inclination to care. The rich are so consumed by accumulation of wealth that nothing can stand in their way. Most humans are so entrenched in their ways that they cannot respond. Those few who actually care are as rare and necessary as Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere, a mere 0.34%.

The greatest threat to our ongoing existence is HUMAN NATURE, the irresistible force that drives us on regardless of the consequences. Improved health care, food aid, better nutrition and a secure environment are responsible for population growth. These ‘advances’ betray Charles Darwin’s theory of SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST. Our species cannot continue unchecked.

Wars, plagues, HIV and Corona Virus have failed because we overcame the effects. Perhaps climate change will have a greater impact. The fact of the matter is that our population must be reduced or our planet will not endure as it is and was.
