Sitting in my ‘think tank’ on the back veranda, I pondered the meaning of success
Not in a deep philosophical sense, but how I measure each day.
The conclusion I reached was that Spider Solitaire, which I play often, is a microcosm our daily existence. It is just a game, and not like Tarot Cards that predict the future (if you can believe them).
We can play it with varying degrees of difficulty, from one to tree suits. It tests our minds and challenges us. When I write, two factors recur. The first, situation, is the cards we are dealt. The second is circumstance, how we play our hand. If we play the cards right, we often win. Play them wrong and we lose.
The only saving grace is that when we lose consistently, we can switch off the tablet and find something else to do. In life, we also have that option. Can we switch off and find something more rewarding? Win or lose, we must play on. We must not be discouraged by a losing streak. It is just a phase. We must turn our attention to a new and different challenge. One where we have a better chance of success. Aluta continua – the struggle goes on.
